Nobody follows Jesus because it’s easy.

Following Jesus is not easy. It's not glamorous or even popular. It's not the key to success, fame, or fortune as the world defines it. It's not a free ticket to the 'good life'. It's filled with difficult choices and frequent hardships. It entails a lot of sacrifice and firm self-discipline. It won't automatically solve all your problems or pave your way to Easy Street. It doesn't exempt you from fears, worries, or any of the deep heartaches life can bring. It may well cost you true friends and gain you true enemies. There are no money-back guarantees of comfort or happiness. It’s a difficult path that demands your everything. All the time. The pitfalls are many and the pay-offs, in this life at least, are few. Nobody follows Jesus because it’s easy.

We follow Him because he is our Creator, incarnate in Christ, crucified for our sin and risen again, the Master of death and the Giver of Life, Saviour of the world, Lord of all, and Soon Coming King. He is our God.

Following Him is simply the right thing to do.
